Building Afruniverse From First Principles
Not another directory. A managed marketplace where trust, payment, and delivery are the product.
Afruniverse did not begin as a startup pitch. It began as a correction to 25 years of broken creative hiring.
First principles
1. Creatives deserve payment protection. 2. Clients deserve delivery accountability. 3. Disputes require human review, not silence. 4. African talent should not need diaspora intermediaries to look professional.
Product, not prose
We built workrooms, escrow, verification, messaging, moderation, and admin operations because the market failed without them. Pretty profiles do not solve ghosting. Infrastructure does.
This journal’s role
Every major product decision in Afruniverse has a corresponding story in this archive. That is intentional. Founders should leave primary sources, not only press releases.
