Full press description

Afruniverse is Africa's premier managed creative marketplace — a trust-first platform that connects clients with verified African creatives across design, development, writing, photography, video, and more. Built in response to the systemic failures in African creative hiring (ghosting, unpaid work, scope drift, and zero accountability), Afruniverse provides structured payments via Paystack, transparent pricing, delivery-focused workrooms, and a dispute resolution layer that protects both clients and creatives. The platform is operated by Capt Kingsley Consulting Limited and was founded after 24 years of firsthand experience with the broken status quo in African creative services.

Founder Bio
Kingsley Obi Lekan (Lordlekan)
Founder & CEO · Afruniverse / Capt Kingsley Consulting Limited

Kingsley Obi Lekan began his digital journey in 2001 with vogueinafrica.com — one of Africa's earliest digital creative communities. Over two decades, he experienced firsthand the failures of creative hiring in Africa: developers who vanished after payment, projects that never delivered, and a market with no accountability structures. In 2024, after AI removed the final technical barriers, he built Afruniverse — a managed marketplace designed to make hiring African creatives as reliable and transparent as it should have always been. He believes Africa's creative economy is one of the continent's most underutilised economic assets, and that trust infrastructure is the missing layer.
